At East Village Dental, we encourage and promote preventive dentistry, knowing how important it is to the conservation of our patients’ long-term oral health.
Preventive dentistry is the name we give to all the regular, day-to-day care we give our teeth and oral health, in order to protect our long-term oral health. This includes regular visits to the dentist, which we recommend every 6-12 months – regular dental hygiene appointments, and a good at-home care routine.
As with all health issues, with dental care, prevention is better than a cure. The preventive measures we take, and encourage our patients to take, are all put in place to avoid intervention and restoration in the future.
These simple measures can help stop tooth decay from forming and gum disease from occurring, for example. Regular visits to a dentist and dental hygienist will also ensure that if such issues do arise, they can be detected early on, making them much simpler to treat. Preventive dental care can also have an impact on your wider overall health – gum disease has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, for example.
